FAQ’s

What is ACCEL’s ESA policy?

All parents and guardians who use the ESA program to pay for ACCEL’s tuition must upload their new or renewed ESA contract by June 5th using the verify button above. If you do not submit verification by ACCEL’s due date, your child will not be able to attend ACCEL next year.

When should I apply for ESA?
Quarter Dates
Q1 July 1 – September 30
Q2 October 1 – December 31
Q3 January 1 – March 31
Q4 April 1 – June 30

The sooner you apply, the better! ESA applications are accepted year-round. Funds are distributed on a quarterly basis, starting the quarter the contract is signed. For example: if the contract is signed on any date in Quarter 1 (July 1st – September 30th), the ESA will receive Quarter 1 funding.

I applied for ESA funds, now what?

To accept an Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA), you must enter into a contract with the Arizona Department of Education (ADE). When you accept and commit to the obligations stated in the ESA contract, ADE will create an ESA for the current school year. ADE will transfer ESA funds on a quarterly basis.

How does ADE distribute ESA funds?

ADE uses ClassWallet (a third-party vendor) to administer ESA funds.

Once your student is accepted to the ESA program, the funds awarded to your student will be put into your virtual ClassWallet account. You can access your ClassWallet account through your ESA Applicant Portal.

If you have more questions about ClassWallet, you can contact them at 1-877-969-5536, read the ClassWallet section in the Parent Handbook, or use ClassWallet’s help page at https://kleo.force.com/classwallet/s/

How do I pay tuition using my ESA funds?

ACCEL will send a tuition invoice to the email account you provide quarterly, and you will use funds available in your ClassWallet account to pay the balance due. Watch this video if you have questions about paying ACCEL using ClassWallet.

Do I have to use all of my ESA funds for ACCEL’s tuition?

If your ESA funds do not exceed the amount of ACCEL’s tuition (most do not), then all ESA funds must be used to pay for ACCEL’s tuition.

How do I maintain eligibility to renew my ESA?

To remain eligible to renew your ESA contact, you must do the following:

  1. Submit quarterly expense reports
  2. Your expense reports from previous quarters must be approved
  3. A portion of your ESA monies must be used in at least the subjects of reading, grammar, mathematic, social studies, and science for the contract year (July 1-June 30)
  4. You must not owe the ADE any monies for disallowed expenses (see the Parent Handbook for disallowed expenses)

If you keep up on quarterly expense reports, all of these eligibility requirements will be fulfilled by paying ACCEL’s tuition.

I have other questions about ESA.

You can visit ADE’s website dedicated to ESA: https://www.azed.gov/esa

Most questions will be answered by the Parent Handbook:  https://www.azed.gov/esa/parent-handbook

If you still have questions or would like to speak to someone, you can contact the ADE’s ESA office at 602-364-1969.

What is ACCEL’s ESA policy?
