Related Services
ACCEL provides a continuum of related services in a collaborative approach with educators to help a student benefit from his/her special education program and make meaningful progress toward meeting IEP goals and benchmarks so student’s benefit from a “therapy rich” environment.
Our philosophy incorporates a multi-disciplinary model that moves instruction out of the traditional classroom and into a wide variety of functional settings. Students and staff utilize indoors and outdoors, as well as on and off-campus programs that will maximize their independence as adults.
Qualified licensed professionals including physical, occupational, and speech/language therapists as well as music, recreation, and aquatics therapists provide related services. A speech /language therapist specializes in AAC to assure assistive technology devices and/or services are available to students who need them as part of their special education.
Under the supervision and coordination of ACCEL’s recreation staff, ACCEL students participate in Special Olympics and compete in a number of sports. Students also take part in Hunkapi for the physical and social benefits received from therapeutic horseback riding.
ACCEL employs a comprehensive team of full-time, on site, registered and licensed practical nurses who provide school health services by working in conjunction with doctors, psychologists, parents, caregivers, ACCEL students and staff in addressing student medical issues.
ACCEL employs over 15 fulltime therapists representing the following disciplines:

- Recreation/movement therapy
