Academic
Our academic philosophy incorporates a multi-disciplinary, collaborative model that moves instruction out of the traditional classroom and into a wide variety of functional settings. Students receive education in a highly structured learning environment with small sized classes and a low student to staff ratio.
A variety of carefully planned special event activities compliment each student’s academic experiences. Students and staff utilize indoor and outdoor classrooms, as well as activities on and off-campus with the goal of maximizing each student’s independence.
Educational services for ACCEL emphasize functional academics to provide a program to meet a student’s individual academic, vocational, social, and behavioral needs. This functional curriculum includes developing functional job-related skills, daily-living skills, and social skills.
To meet the academic needs of the students as indicated on their Individualized Education Program (IEP) that are aligned with Arizona State Standards, ACCEL uses specialized academic curriculum and programs.
These include:- SRA Corrective Reading and Direct Instruction Mathematics
- Literacy Starters
- The Star Report Program
- Think Social!
- Handwriting Without Tears
- PCI Adapted Vocational Curriculum
